5 Reasons Why You Have Nothing to Wear

5 Reasons Why You Have Nothing to Wear

My closet is full of really cute clothing, but still I find myself standing, starting into what appears to be an empty closet - I have nothing to wear. I could never really understand why my closet was full, but I really believed that I had nothing to wear. It was frustrating and cost me a lot of money trying to “fix this problem” I thought I had.

I’ve learned my lesson (the hard way) and today I’m sharing why you think you have nothing to wear and how to easily fix this problem!

1.You’re buying too many trendy pieces
I’m no stranger to a trendy piece of clothing, like a puffed sleeve or tie dye but if it doesn’t stand the test of time, then it won’t do any good a year or two from now. Eventually, these pieces will go out of style and you won’t want to wear them anymore. I’m not saying don’t buy trendy pieces, but make sure you are also filling your closet with basic and timeless pieces also.

2. You’re not buying clothing for your personality
This kind of goes back to something being trendy. Just because something is “in fashion” doesn’t mean it’s for you. For me, it’s crop tops. I wish I could pull it off, but I can’t and I don’t think it suits my personality. Inevitably, a crop top would hang in my closet and give the appearance that I have something to wear, when in reality I will likely never (want to) wear it. Be true to you!

3. You’re buying the wrong size
It took me years to get over the number or letter on the tags of my clothing and I would buy the wrong size clothing, which left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable and lacking confidence. I’ve learned that buying my size, regardless of what it is (and it’s different at almost every store), makes clothes look good on my body and I feel so confident!

4. You’re not buying pieces to create outfits
When you go shopping you should always keep in mind what you have at home already. How could you style a shirt with the pants and accessories you already own? Always keep in mind what you already own so that you aren’t purchasing pieces of clothing and have nothing to wear them with!

5. You only shop when you’re desperate
I am 100% guilty of this. I have a special occasion and event to attend and at the last minute I’m desperately searching the mall for something to wear. Without fail, I end up purchasing something I don’t actually love and after wearing it one time it sits in my closet never to be worn again. Instead, shop when you can and purchase pieces that you love.
