How I Plan My Monday to Friday Looks

How I Plan My Monday to Friday Looks

I love styling and putting outfits together, but I tend to struggle making outfit decisions at 7 o’clock in the morning. When it comes to being organized I’m no guru, BUT I do have some tips and tricks up my sleeve to make life and mornings run a little bit smoother. One my tricks is to plan out my outfits for the work week ahead on Sunday.
Here’s how I do it:

  1. Look at my day planner.
This tip is two fold for me. I look at what meetings I have scheduled during the week, and ask myself “are these casual or more formal meetings?”, because I tend dress up a little bit more for formal meetings. I also look at the buildings I will be in. You see, I work in different schools and the temperature varies drastically - which impacts my outfit choices! Being comfortable is key for productivity.

  2. Check the weather app.
The colder the day the cozier I want to be. The warmer the temperature the more colour I want to wear. Get my drift? The weather also impacts the type of coat I wear and not all of my sweaters fit underneath all my coats. It sounds more complicated than it is - but taking the think time out of the equation first thing in the morning is so helpful. Side note: do men put this much thought into outfit choices? Because I KNOW my husband does not!

  3. Don’t second guess.
Okay, I’m only human and there are definitely mornings I second guess my outfit choices (usually because I had one too many pieces of pizza the night before and I’m just not feeling the highwaisted jeans with a fitted top - I know you know what I’m talking about). For the most part I stick to the outfits I’ve chosen to make my mornings run smoother.

  4. Hang it up.
Once I’ve chosen my outfits I hang them up together in order (Monday to Friday). This way it’s right in front of me and I can visualize the outfit, accessories included - I’m totally a visual person/learner. Sometimes, if I have the time on Sunday’s I will try the outfit on before choosing it and hanging it up. Eventually you just know what goes and what you feel comfortable wearing together.
