5 Reasons Why I'm Loving Kimonos For Spring
One way I love to style a basic jeans and t-shirt outfit is to add a statement piece of interest. Sometimes that statement is a bag, jewelry or jacket. Recently I have loved kimonos, allowing their simplicity and boldness to be the statement piece of my outfit.
Today I’m going share five reasons why I love kimonos and why you should too!
There are so many options.
Whether you like to shop online or in stores there are often so many different kimonos to choose from. Not only do many stores carry different patterns, textures and fabrics you can also choose the perfect length that suits your height and body type. Style Tip: Kimonos are for every body type, so don’t be afraid to try!A great layering piece for Spring/Summer.
We have now entered into Spring and (finally) packed away all our heavy coats, but it’s not quite warm enough to go sleeveless - it’s layering season. I love throwing a kimono on in the morning to go to work knowing that it’s a great statement layering piece and it’s lightweight enough that I won’t be sweating as the temperature rises throughout the day. In the summer a kimono can be a great nightly addition to shorts and tank and dresses as temperatures lower. An alternative to a cardigan or blazer.
Full disclosure, I don’t think I have purchased a cardigan in a few years, however, I absolutely love blazers! I could probably wear a different blazer every single day of the week. Kimonos, like blazers, area great piece to add to your outfit. So when you’re tired of blazers or cardigans a kimono adds something different and interesting to your outfit.Easy to transition from work to weekend.
When I buy clothing I like to ask myself “how can I get the most for my money?”. So basically, how can I make sure that I can wear this piece in multiple settings and occasions so that I am not wasting my hard earned money. During the week I pair a kimono with a silk or polyester camisole and black pants/denim, a necklace and bracelet for work. On the weekend for dinner or time with family style a kimono casually with jeans, flats and a cotton tank or t-shirt and a chunky watch. Money well spent!Easy to wear and style.
Kimonos come is so many different patterns, lengths and fabrics therefore the styling options are truly endless. Dress it up or down. Add jewelry or allow it to a statement all on its own. Pair it with jeans, dresses, shorts - you can’t go wrong! Did I mention that kimonos are motherhood friendly because of how comfortable they are? Just another reason why I adore them!
