Live Life With Thanksgiving
Happy Rise Up Monday and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and family!
We have been celebrating Thanksgiving all weekend with family and let me tell you, my heart and my stomach are full!
I think a lot about thanksgiving, not the holiday but the word itself.
The more I think about it, the more I believe that thanksgiving should be a way of life.
Giving thanks for what we have should not be isolated to a long weekend once a year. It’s a great reminder, yes. But thanksgiving is something we should intentionally practice year round. In previous Rise Up weeks we’ve touched on topics such as happiness and mindset. Year round thanksgiving is just one more way to help us all live well and embrace genuine happiness.
A practice I have adopted into my life is giving thanks as one of the first things I do in the morning. Maybe my son decided to wake up before 5am. Maybe I woke up with some back pain. I intentionally choose one that I am thankful for - all those other things that could have started my day off on the wrong foot still exist and will need to be acknowledged, but they don’t have to define my mindset or mood because having a thankful heart brings me joy, peace and perspective.
This week I encourage you to give thanks. Not because of a holiday but because thankfulness brings peace, hope and joy to our lives.
Happy Rise Up Monday, Everyone.
