Stay at Home Valentines Day Ideas

Stay at Home Valentines Day Ideas

This year we’re staying home for Valentines Day. Our province is currently under a state of emergency, so there will be no getting a babysitter, no going out for dinner - we’ll be home in our comfiest clothes. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make our Valentines Day at home special.
Here are some ideas of ways that you can make this Valentines Day at home special for you, your partner and your family! Every idea can be slightly modified for a date night or whole family activity.

  1. Individual Mason Jar Cakes
Bake cupcakes, slice them into three sections. Please each section in a small mason jar separated by icing (make sure to use a piping bag - It’s much easier this way!). You can even get more creative and add sprinkles, crumbled cookies or fruit on top of the icing before starting another layer).

  2. Heart Shaped Individual Pizza
This can be a date night or whole family activity! Separate your dough into small sections, roll it out and shape the dough into a heart. Top it with your favourite pizza toppings and bake!

  3. Create Your Own Food Board
This is perfect for a date with your partner or fun for the family! If you make a date night food board you can add more upscale foods - I’m a charcuterie board loving mama, but my son isn’t. So we make food boards based on foods or themes we all love. Mexican, wings, hot dogs and hamburger sliders - it can all be made into a super fun food board!

  4. Create a Home Theatre
Get out your comfiest pillows, throws and comforters, grab allll your favourite snacks and put on a movie like you’re in the theatre. Want to take it up a notch? Add some twinkle lights like you’re watching a movie under the stars.

  5. At Home Paint Night
You get all the materials you need (canvas, paint and brushes) from your local dollar store. Put on some music, make some cocktails/mock tails and paint away!

  6. Games/Puzzle Night
This is all about quantity time. Get out your favourite board games and play a few rounds together!

  7. Play 20 Questions
Everyone write questions on strips of paper that gets placed in a jar. One by one go through the questions; everyone has to answer each question drawn.

  8. Order In from Your Favourite Restaurant
Don’t have time? Who does these days. Order in from your favourite restaurant (maybe even splurge a bit). But make it special, set the table, light some candles and get out of your sweat pants and into a nice outfit. And don’t forget to order dessert!
