11 Ways To Help You Live Your Best Life
It’s that time of the year, the time when everyone either conscious or unconsciously evaluates the past year. We contemplate how we can make the next year even better than the last, Lord knows that’s what I’m doing!
2018 was a painful year for me, physically and mentally. It’s no wonder that I have high hopes for a brighter and stronger 2019. So it got me thinking… what are some key things that will help me live my best life.
I came up with a list of eleven ways to make this next year a happy, successful year, and I think it can help you too! Here’s my list!
Choose gratitude & thankfulness every. single. day. I hate to break it to you but life will never be perfect. There will always be curve balls thrown your way, but the attitude you choose will make all the difference.
Get active. Make a point to beat those winter blues and get those endorphins moving by intentionally moving every day. Whether you’re walking, swimming, running, lifting weights, doing yoga, joining a class at your local gym or becoming a mall walker - move! You’ll not only feel better physically, but mentally as well! You’re whole body will thank you for it later!
Eat healthy. Meal plan or meal prep and be intentional with what you put into your body. Limit processed foods. Eating healthy will help heal physical and emotional wounds. Eating healthy will give you the energy and mental capacity to preform at your best, and who doesn’t want that?!
Spend time with family & friends. I get it, life is busy. Scheduling is really hard (especially when children and other activities are involved). Again, be intentional! Schedule coffee dates and dinners (and babysitters!) ahead of time. Being around those you love and who love you back is so good for your soul.
Declutter your home. Get rid of everything that doesn’t serve a purpose anymore. You know all those clothes you’ve been holding onto since university and the pots and pans you never use taking up valuable space? Donate them. You know all your kids toys they never play with anymore? Donate them. There is definitely something to be said about living in a home without clutter - I started this process (because it’s a process!) back in July and it has been so freeing!
Create a monthly budget & save. Creating a monthly budget (and sticking to it) is so key to living debt free (a path we are currently on ourselves). At the same time, put money away for the future, start now and you’ll thank yourself later.
Plan a getaway. It doesn’t have to be extravagant (don’t go into debt over it!), it could be one or two nights away, or becoming a tourist in your own town, something maybe you and your significant other plan six months from now. Be intentional about investing in your marriage and/or relationships with quality time. Start saving now so that you’re not stressed about it later (Tip: Our golden rule now is to plan ahead and save now whenever possible, and pay for everything in cash - no more debt!)
Create a vision board. Whether on Pinterest or going old school and cutting pictures out of magazines create a board for you and your family. What do you hope for this year? Make sure it’s somewhere visible as a daily reminder of what you’re working for.
Do something that scares you. No, you don’t have to go jump out of a plane, but try something new that takes you out of your comfort zone. Join a cooking class, recreational sports team or club, join a fitness class, start that side hustle you’ve always wanted to do - you will learn so much about yourself, and talk about a confidence booster!
Read more / Learn something new. Put down your phone and pick up a book. Choose a topic you want to learn more about and read about it! Better yet, join a book club and learn together or a group within your community that can teach you something new!
Let go of what you cannot control. There are going to be circumstances, people and places this year that you cannot control that will have the ability to make or break you. Don’t let it break you, let it go, choose to stand tall and push through the bad until the good shines through!
Happy New Year, Beauties!
