Our Christmas Family Photos
I had a brilliant idea.
We’re going to do a holiday card this year. I will choose a photographer, a date that shouldn’t be too cold and coordinating family outfits and all will be perfect (insert major eye roll here). If you read one of my previous posts you know my love for professional family photos.
I honestly couldn’t believe how wonderful these photos turned out considering Maximus was very uncooperative. By the end of our session I literally threw my hands in the air. He screamed and wiggled out of our arms the entire time and we literally had to chase him around the field we were in as he giggled and ran away from us barrelling towards every mud puddle - every mothers worst nightmare on picture day. Yet somehow, our photographer managed to capture a few perfect moments that would actually make you think that our almost two year old boy was an angel for this thirty minute session (ha!).
I think this day was a good lesson in life and in parenting. No matter how hard you try to create perfection, it doesn’t exist. Behind every perfect photo you see, a million and one things have gone wrong, caused stress and maybe even a few tears. As we left our session I began to laugh at all the craziness because being upset wasn’t going to change anything that had happened or Maximus’ behaviour. We can’t control our lives - but we can control our attitude towards situations.
I can’t wait to create our 2018 Christmas card. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram @andrea.robitaille to see which pictures and design I chose for our card.
And make sure you scroll to the bottom to see the one “blooper” of the bunch, annnd probably one of my new favourite family photos!

This final photo is for all the mamas out there that know taking pictures with toddlers is a nightmare and behind every perfectly posed photo is a lot of bribing and at least ten more photos that look like this one!
