Fall Family Photos
Fall, family and family photos - just a few of my favourite things and when you put them together I think my heart may explode.
I decided early on in Maximus’ life that the concept of yearly family photos was something that I wanted to invest our time and money in. The idea of one day being able to walk through our home or flip through an album and see how we’ve all changed and grown, especially Maximus, is something that is important to me.
I am a self-proclaimed excellent picture taker of my husband and Maximus together. I pay attention and catch the sweetest candid moments, in the right lighting and at the perfect angle. My husband on the other hand, bless his heart, he tries. But the “perfect candid” photos I encourage him to take of Maximus and I, well, let’s just say are less than flattering. I mean, think triple chins, one eye half closed here. You know when you turn on your phone camera and its accidentally front facing? That’s what I’m talking about here, not to mention blurry and out of focus - but A for effort for sure.
Having photos where I am present and not the one behind the camera means something. It’s literally a snapshot of time. Let me tell you about these photos. They are a few moments full of memories of love, laughter and a touch of frustration (because, hello toddlers do not listen or sit still!), that make up these photos. What you don’t see are my nieces and nephews singing and dancing to get Maximus’ attention. What you don’t see is my sister-in-law literally chasing Maximus through the corn field to get these shots that will hang in my home. What you don’t hear is the google home playing music behind us or us singing the Elmo’s World theme song so Maximus turns around at the right second.
I love that these pictures have more meaning to us than just pictures. It was a whole afternoon of memories that this mama can cherish for a lifetime.
