Lattes & Laughter
Hello! I’m so happy you’re joining me today on Rise Up Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and I hope you were able to connect with friends and family.
Did you know that we were created for relationships? I don’t just mean dating and marriage, but friendships too. The older (and I like to believe wiser) I get, the more I learn that life is not about having many friends, but a few really great ones that support you, cheer you on, listen, cry with you and lovingly tell you when you’re being dramatic.
Aside from childless date nights with my husband, one of my favourite ways to refresh my mind and soul is to go on coffee and dinner dates with family and friends (again, childless). When I come home from time with family or friends my husband always comments on how happy I am. It’s because I was able to be on the giving and receiving end of speaking life and love into one another. It’s because I feel inspired to be better. It’s because I don’t feel like a complete failure as a mother anymore - because either we’re all in the trenches together or a seasoned mother is sharing her wisdom. And usually, it’s because I laughed so much my stomach muscles hurt.
Whether you have children or not, the older you get the busier life seems and the quicker time seems to go by. One thing we often neglect are our friendships. We value our friends who understand that certain seasons in life are busier than others and making time for coffee and dinners is just not a priority. Here’s why I believe it should be a priority: because we were created for relationships. We were created to love and listen, support, inspire and walk along side one another. We were not meant to go through life alone. I truly believe we all do better in life when we feel connected, heard and belly laugh from time to time.
This week I encourage you text or call a friend and set up that long overdo coffee date. Be intentional and speak life and inspiration into one another. Remember, you were created for this.
Happy Rise Up Monday, Everyone.
